Nine NPRA National Industry Safety Achievement Awards
Nine Shaw projects were awarded the Contractor Award for Meritorious Safety Performance by The National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA) for calendar year 2006. The NPRA recognizes facilities in the petroleum refining and petrochemical manufacturing industries for outstanding achievements in safe operations. This award is given to contractors working a minimum of 20,000 hours per calendar year at a regular member facility who have achieved a total recordable incidence rate of 1.2 or less with no workplace related fatality during 2006.
Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Award
The Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) has honored Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure Group's world-class safety program with their most prestigious annual award in safety excellence. This award is given annually to the best-in-class company that exhibits the most outstanding overall achievements and innovation in construction safety.
OSHA Voluntary Protection Program "Star of Excellence"
The Shaw Maintenance Division (of Shaw Power Group) was honored at six OxyVinyl facilities in Houston, TX and at Syngenta - St. Gabriel as "Stars of Excellence" in OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). The award is presented to VPP sites where both the Total Case Incidence Rate (TCIR) and Day Away/Restricted Duty/Transferred Case Incidence Rate are at least 50 percent below the Bureau of Labor Statistics national industry average for the previous year.
Occupational Excellence Achievement Awards from the National Safety Council
Several Shaw entities were honored by the National Safety Council as recipients of the Occupational Excellence Achievement Awards. These entities completed 2005 with an injury rating below their respective industry average. The entities recognized for their safety records were Shaw Process Fabricators, Inc., West Monroe, LA; Shaw NAPTech, Inc., Clearfield, UT; Shaw SSS Fabricators, Inc., Addis, LA; Shaw Alloy Piping Products, Inc., Shreveport, LA; Shaw Sunland Fabricators, Inc., Walker, LA; and Shaw Energy Delivery Services, Inc., Charlotte, NC.
Associated Maintenance Contractors Group I Safety Performance Award
Shaw's Stone & Webster Construction, Inc. entity was awarded the Associated Maintenance Contractors (AMC) Group I Safety Performance Award for work in 2005. The award is granted to the contractor with the best safety performance record while performing maintenance, modification, and renovation work under the General Presidents' Project Maintenance Agreement. During 2005, Stone & Webster Construction, Inc. worked a total of 5,249,034 hours under the agreement without a lost time accident. This is the twelfth time that Stone & Webster Construction, Inc. has won the AMC award.
PacifiCorp CEO Safety Award
In recognition of Shaw Power Group's outstanding safety record during the summer of 2006 at PacifiCorp's Current Creek Power Station, PacifiCorp awarded the CEO Safety Award in the large plants category. Shaw Power Group was lauded for its excellent safety results and for its commitment to continuous safety improvement.
Gold Award Certificates of Achievement
As part of the North Carolina OSHA Safety Awards program, Shaw's Power Group was awarded two Gold Award Certificates of Achievement for its work on the Duke Marshall FGD project. Shaw Power Group was recognized for substantial reduction of injuries and illness, and commitment to promoting safer working conditions during 2005. The project achieved an exemplary 1.3 million safe man-hours and was also recognized as a NC-OSHA Building Star site.
RoSPA Health and Safety Award
For the eighth consecutive year, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) presented Shaw's Energy & Chemicals Group with its Gold Medal Award. This prestigious award is granted to select companies who have demonstrated continuous health and safety performance improvement.
