Targeting Zero Program

The Targeting Zero Program was created to further our efforts in establishing Shaw as a leader in setting and achieving premier environmental, health and safety performance standards and objectives. The program is focused on targeting zero—achieving ZERO environmental, health and safety incidents and furthers our ability to perform in a manner that minimizes health and safety risks to our clients, our employees, the general public, and the environment. The program involves new heightened health and safety policies and many new and enhanced safety programs:

  • Safety Orientation video and training
  • Safety Toolbox—consolidated location for easy access of safety tools, rules, regulations, and safety checklists
  • Off-the-Job Safety—distribute informative monthly flyers that offer practical advice on how to avoid potential dangers.
  • Interactive Safety Quizzes
  • Internal Safety Awards—recognize employees who have demonstrated a commitment to EH&S practices
  • Emergency Response Program—distribute Automatic External Defibrillators and CPR training
  • Defensive Driving Course—required before operating a Shaw vehicle, along with a Motor Vehicle Records Check
  • Enhanced Incident Reporting System—provides improved trending and reporting to identify improvement opportunities
