Cojafex Induction Bending Machines
Shaw’s subsidiary, Cojafex B.V., is the world’s leading supplier of induction pipe bending equipment and induction structural shape bending machines. Located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, the company has specialized in manufacturing induction pipe bending equipment for more than 30 years.
Using induction heating to produce highly accurate bends, induction pipe bending is a preferred alternative to traditional fit-and-weld fabrication procedures. Induction bending is known for its quality, accuracy and cost savings.
The quality of induction bending is superior to elbow fitting. In comparable elbow-based systems, the elbow, or inside radius, is always the first to burst. Confirmed by stress calculations and hydro-burst tests, spools with induction bends fail in the straight pipe and not in the bend. The natural tendency to have a thicker inside wall thus proves to be advantageous and ensures that the bend exceeds the strength of the straight pipe. Many companies have exclusively chosen Cojafex equipment for their induction bending.
These benders are used in the following industries:
- Chemical and petrochemical
- Power generation
- Pipeline, on and offshore, including compressor and pump stations
- Ship building
- Construction (structural shapes)
Engineering disciplines include electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and software engineering. Commissioning, startup and training services also are provided.
Products
Twelve standard models cover all pipe diameters from 2 inches (60.3 mm) to 64 inches (1,625 mm). Wall thickness may vary from 0.2 inches (5 mm) up to 4 inches (100 mm) allowing radii from 3 inches (75 mm) up to 400 (10,000 mm) inches. Custom executions are possible to accommodate situations such as extra heavy walls (more than 4 inches) or extra large radius (more than 400 inches).
All machines are capable of 1.5D bending and several models offer automated spool bending. These spool bending machines can make up to 10 bends in one pipe. Spools outperform conventional welded spools, both in costs and integrity. These machines are especially capable of making 1.5D bends within 12.5 percent thinning for wall thicknesses down to Schedule 40.
A wide variety of materials can be processed by the Cojafex benders. This includes carbon steels, stainless steels, duplex steels, all API LX grades and alloys like P9, P22, X20, P91.
Several models are portable and can be moved from location to location with minimal downtime.
