Diversity at Shaw

Shaw fully supports and participates in diversity initiatives, and we work to make sure our employees are respected in all aspects of their work life.

Shaw creates an atmosphere that fosters creativity, leadership, advancement and compliance by building upon the uniqueness and individualism of each employee. We benefit from our employees’ enthusiasm, while our employees benefit from an inclusive environment. This atmosphere fosters better recruitment and retention practices and goes beyond our commitment to the discrimination-free environment outlined in our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy.

Our diversity efforts are demonstrated and recognized by the following:

  • Shaw promotes diversity in the industries we serve by supporting diversity-oriented professional organizations such as the Society of Women Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the National Society of Black Engineers.
  • In 2010, Shaw was recognized by G.I. Jobs magazine as a Top 100 Military Friendly Employer and by The Black Collegian magazine as a Top 100 Employer.
  • Each year, Shaw hosts “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day,” a learning experience that allows more than 200 young females across the U.S. to participate in activities designed to foster an appreciation for engineering and promote the field as a viable career.
