Fort Rucker
Base Operations Support

Located in southeast Alabama, Fort Rucker is home to the Army Aviation Warfighting Center, where more than 12,000 military, civilian and international personnel are trained each year in rotary wing aviation and leadership skills. The installation provides support to more than 66,000 active-duty and retired military personnel and their dependents.

Shaw provides all services, materiels, supplies, supervision, labor and equipment, except government-furnished equipment, to perform public works and logistics functions at Fort Rucker and satellite locations. The work includes the following:

  • Operations, maintenance, repair and construction of approximately 1,000 facilities
  • Operation of transportation and supply services
  • Repair and maintenance of materiel
  • Maintenance of more than 63,000 acres of roads and grounds
  • Vehicle and equipment maintenance

Facility maintenance and repair includes five full Army air fields (including Cairns Army Air Field, the busiest air field in the U.S. Army worldwide) and 17 stage fields. With approximately 600 rotary and fixed-wing aircraft being used six to seven days a week to train Army pilots, the fields must be fully operational at all times.
