Shaw provides maximum practicable opportunities consistent with efficient contract performance in its acquisitions to small businesses, including veteran-owned small businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, HUBZone businesses located in economically distressed rural and urban areas, small disadvantaged businesses, women-owned small businesses, and businesses that are owned and operated by other socioeconomic groups that the United States Government, state governments and local governments have designated as deserving of special consideration. Shaw's Corporate Small Business Liaison Officer is the lead for all outreach efforts including counseling and assisting small businesses concerns. The Small Business Liaison Officer is also responsible for ensuring that a fair portion of subcontracts for supplies and services are placed with small businesses.
