Incumbent or Site-Specific Training
This training is designed to provide continuing skill development for craft workers who have completed the requisite training, and are eligible to move forward to more advanced specific training. This curriculum, will provide training for the newly developing craft worker as well as the advanced craft worker, concentrating on the specific training needs of the Project in the areas of:
- Pipe
- Electrical
- Ironwork
- Welding
- Carpentry
- Concrete
- Millwright, and
- Structural Ironwork
This training utilizes the Contren Learning Series to develop the craft worker through three to five levels of the Shaw Construction Career Path. This training is conducted on site in weekly training sessions. Training time is scheduled at the end of the shift. Trainees receive half of their weekly training on company time and half of their training after hours. This represents a joint donation of training time; two hours by Shaw and two hours by the individual. The average completion time of this training varies depending upon the specific craft.
The training is provided by qualified ICTP trained personnel. A training incentive is included in the training plan which is tied to the Shaw Construction Career Path. The Workforce Development division maintains records of attendance and training completion which are documented in the CTMS. Shaw Supervisory Personnel are afforded access to designated training records on the CTMS for pre placement on upcoming Shaw projects.
